Chrissie Bates
Over the years, I have been looking after my own animals as well as caring for other people's pets. I have rescued many cats over the years, and it was very rewarding to earn their trust and be able to care for them. I have also helped find loving new homes for pets where their owners were no longer able to care for them. This includes a mother cat and her 5 kittens. I took the family in when the kittens were 4 weeks old. I found the kittens loving homes once they were ready to leave and once the mother cat was back to full health and spayed, she also found a lovely new family.
I have had dogs in my life since I was a child. So I have many years experience caring for dogs. I have looked after many dogs of different breeds and ages. I have also had the pleasure of helping a dog deliver her puppies, whilst her owner was away. Every dog is different and have their own needs and dietary requirements, they also need plenty of attention and company to make sure their happy and content.
I have 16 years of experience working with horses. I have worked on a very busy competition/livery/riding school yard, where I completed my NVQ level 2 apprenticeship in equine care. I then stayed on full time and worked on the yard for 4 years. Gaining lots of experience working with a variety of different horses.
I worked at an RDA Centre for 10 years where I progressed my way up to yard supervisor, where I was responsible for the care and wellbeing of all the horses on the yard. I was also responsible for making sure all the volunteers and grooms were trained and up to standard for caring for the horses.
I’ve had my own horses since I was 14 years old. I’ve had a different variety of horses. From elderly ponies, young horses which I’ve brought on to be ridden horses. I also had a mare who we didn’t know was in foal, so had the pleasure of raising a foal, who is still with me now. I have also rescued a few horses over the years.
I am very passionate about animals and love having them in my life.
